Fundraising and Volunteer Hours

Fundraising is a year-round activity. However, the ebb and flow of the football year dictates that some activities are better suited for specific times of the year. For instance, once the Autumn season has gotten under-way, large team fundraisers involving the players can be a drain on the amount of energy they have to focus on academics, practice and the part-time jobs that many find a necessity. It is therefore important to consider conducting large player based fundraisers in the winter, spring and summer months.

 

Who Are We

 

The Fundraising Committee is a group of people, some football fans, some not; some fanatical football fans, some not; some alumni, some not; some parents of players on the team, some not; but all with a common goal....to have fun while fundraising and otherwise supporting the football team!

 

Why Do We Fundraise

 

The costs of operating a football program is very high. Travel expenses are high, busses, ferry, referrees, safety epuipment, gear, etc. We are not funded by the school district at all, so we need to raise the money ourselves. This is why we have many fundraising events throughout the year. We fundraise all year round, not just during football season.

 

Why Do We Need Your Help?

 

A championship football organization doesn't just happen because of great athletes. It starts from the ground up with involvement with the community, the school, the parents, the athletes, the coaches, but most importantly, it is the volunteers. Without them, this program could not run. Who are the volunteers, you as parents and your athlete. We need your support as well.

 

What Do We Do?

 

Following are some of the things that we are doing to raise money for the team. There is a place for everybody on theFundraising Committee. Remember....all work and no play is not the Fundraising Committee Way!! All these events are excellent opportunities to get your volunteer hours in.

 

How Much Do We Need To Raise?

 

Well our budget for this year shows that we need to earn $85 000.00. It is possible, only with your help.

 

Why Do I Have To Give A Post Dated Fundraising Cheque?

 

Being that fundraising is a big part of our program, we need to ensure that each family does their part in raising funds. It costs our program over $1 800.00 per player to play for the season. So to keep registration fees down, we ask that each parent participatesin doing a miniumum of 24 hours of fundraising to help with our different events. Its hard to hold an event if you don't have help to run it. By December 31st if you don't have help to run it. By December 31st if you have not completed 24 hours, your fundraising cheque will be cashed. We do not do partial hours, it must be 24+ hours to have your cheques returned to you. By all means, if you wish to NOT help with fundraising, we can cash your check at registration time, and not contact you with fundraising events.

 

How Can I Get My Hours In?

 

By helping out at different fundraising events. Join a committee, joint the board of directors, help out at our events. Some duties that are needed that go towards your volunteer hour are:
